As an early adopter of peat-free principles, Sunnyside Rural Trust has been growing around 15,000 perennials a year in this way for the last five years and is expanding its operation in 2024/25.

Our plants are unique in their production. Each one is grown by adults with learning differences at our nurseries, meaning that every plant you buy provides training and work opportunities for vulnerable people.

Our perennials are grown to a very high standard – we previously grew the plants for Tom Stuart-Smith’s Hampton Court garden back in 2021 and provided both perennials and annuals for Arit Anderson’s RHS Peat-free Feature Garden for Hampton Court in 2024.

For 2024/2025, we are able to sell from our current stock or grow to order. And from 2025 we will also be offering a unique range of plants, propagated from the 1500 exciting and unusual varieties featuring in Tom Stuart-Smith’s Plant Library space.

These are being propagated at our new Orchard Nursery site, situated right next to the Library, and will be sold on commercially.
